Birth story - 38 weeks 3 days

Suppose to have my routine check-up at AMK KKH on Sat (20 Feb 2010) at 8.30am. But who knows, around 2am, something happened...

2am: Sudden pain at the cervic around.. Thought it was just normal tummyache

2.30am: Felt something flow out.. Checked and it was blood (light pink).. Told hubby about it.. Shortly, Contraction started.. We timed the contraction together.. From 5 minutes: 1 minutes contration to 3 minutes: 1.5 minutes contraction

7.15am: Finally cannot endure already.. Hubby fetch me to KKH. On the way, we were still deciding to go to AMK Clinic or KKH. But finally, hubby made the decision to send me to KKH

8am: Reached KKH

8.30am: Finished registration and sent into a room for CTG

9am: 2 senior staff nurse came in to check for my dilation be'cos my gynea can't come in on time and I am having regular contration of 4 minutes: 1 minutes

9.30am: Been sent into delivery ward as my dilation is 4-5cm already

11.20am: Ask for epidural from mid-wife but too late, 9 cm dilated

11.30am: Start to try pushing as dilated 10cm

12.20pm: Gynea finally arrived and I gave the last push

1.00pm: Finish sewing up

2.00pm: Pushed to ward 51 Bed 8

Finally, Bb Malcom is borned on 20 Feb 2010. He is born naturally without epidural..

38 weeks

I am officially on Maternity Leave and into 38 weeks of preggy stage.. I am counting down to seeing my boy.. Could it be anytime soon, or this coming weekend or on the actual day itself.. I am feeling both excited and scared.. But luckily, I had my family members and friends around to support me throughout this period of time..

Going to see Dr Tham again this Sat.. If bb hits 3.5kg.. going to induce.. Haiz.. But lets hope everything is fine and I dun need to induce bb out.. But I will listen to Dr Tham's advice..

We are just patiently waiting and counting down to the arrival of my lil' one..

37 weeks 3 days @ AMK KKH Clinic

Waited to see Dr Tham at the clinic for nearly 1 hr.. Told him i am experiencing abit of tummy pain last night before slping.. He checked for my dilation and I am yet to dilate.. He hooked me onto CTG to check for contraction as well.. So it could be just fake contraction..

Bb is already in good position (head down and facing inwards) but not yet engaged.. According to Dr Tham, Bb engage is when mummy will feel a sudden Bb moving downwards to the birth canel but not painful.. And ya. I am tested positive for GBS stip B.. I need to take antibotics for 5 days and drips on the delivery day itself... So for now.. I need to be patient, Patient & PATIENT.. waiting for Bb's arrival..

My weight had decreased by 1.5kg but Bb's weight had increase by 200g.. So strange.. Therefore, for this new year.. I cant eat much but in moderation only.. But for the seek of my Bb, I WILL... I had also sign up to store Bb's cord-blood at Cordlife Banking.. Though it is expensive.. for the seek of baby again.. we are willing to spend the money!!

37 weeks check-up @ The Private Suite

What a experience at TPS on 9 February 2010! The cost too increase when doing check-up at TPS as the facilities and services provided is different from the other clinics. They are good and professional.

Waited for nearly 2 hrs before seeing Dr Tham.. Complaint to him about the waiting time and he also complaint about Bb's weight now.. Headache.. Headache... Cutting down eating habit don't seems to be enough for me.. From the last check-up till now (4 weeks back @33 weeks), I had gained 3 kg and Bb gained 500g - 800g.. So I am wondering now, the food goes mostly to me or Bb now.. So scared to go check-up now!!

Firstly, Dr Tham did the GBS test for me which he stick 2 sticks into me to collect sample to check for bateria before delivering.. He is very assurring to me that if I cooperate with him, I will not feel at pain.. True enough.. No PAIN but just uncomfortable thereafter.. Secondly, he used his new machine to scan Bb and it is the 1st time, he gave us a 3D photo of Bb.. So amazing.. According to mummy and hubby.. Bb look like me.. Happy..HaPpY.. HAPPY!! Thirdly, we booked for A1 premier package for the day of my delivery.. Deposit around $2080 after a deduction of Medisave $2100. But total bill could goes up to around $5100. I hope during that time, I could see Dr Tham around all the time when I needed him because he would be a assurance to me!

My next check-up will be 13 Feb 2010 (Chu-xi).. Hope everything will be fine and I can have my reuion dinner peacefully before Bb decided to come out...

Total Damage for the day: $128 + $2100 = $2228

Bb's weight: 2.8kg - 3.1kg
